The ECCS 2007 takes places at the
Central Lecture Hall
(Hörsaalzentrum - Bergstraße 64) of the Dresden University of Technology.
Dresden is a beautiful, touristic city with an own airport. It is well reachable from
Berlin (ca. 2,5 hours), Leipzig (ca. 1 hour), and
Prague ca. 2,5 hours).
If you are travelling by train, then you have to use the tramline 3 (Direction "Coschütz") after leaving the railway station. Alight at "Nürnberger Platz" and walk south-east (4min).

international reputation and is located in the beautiful scenery of the
Elbe river world heritage. Hiking tours through the Saxon Switzerland will offer you spectacular views. A trip to Meissen
allows you to visit the world famous porcelain manufactory. A selective

Baroque City of Dresden with its Museums and Art Collections:
Dresden is one of Europe's cultural highlights. The old town with its historical centre shows many buildings in baroque style like the Cathedrall and the Zwinger, originally built as a setting for courtly festivities, now known as one of the most significant late baroque buildings in Europe. The riverside with Brühl's Terrace, known as “balcony of Europe” is inviting for sightseeing walks. Many museums are showing a wide range of topics for every interest. One of the most famous museums is the Old Masters Picture Gallery with an outstanding collection of high-ranking masterpieces of Italian painting of Renaissance. The saucy angels from Raphael’s “The Sistine Madonna” are known in the whole world as well as pictures from Titian and Giorgione and works in the Mannerist and Baroque styles. Another highlight is the Green Vault known as one of Europe´s most luxurious treasure chambers. More examples for interesting museums are the Albertinum, the Museum of Traffic and Transport and the Deutsches Hygienemuseum.
Frauenkirche Church:
The newly rebuilt Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) attracts thousands of people, coming to Dresden, only to see these impressive church which is the most famous building in Dresden and a symbol of hope, and reconciliation.
Culture, Theater and Opera:
Dresden is a city of art and culture and offers a lot of theatres and music ensembles. The most famous of all is the Semper Opera House. Its building is considered to be one of the town´s landmarks and the Saxon State Opera is one of the most
famous opera houses in the world.
UNESCO World Heritage Dresden Elbe Valley:
The historical cultural landscape along the River Elbe valley in an 18 kilometres range along the riverside of Dresden is listed as UNESCO World heritage since 2004.
Castles and Parks near Dresden:
Nearby Dresden many beautiful old castles are waiting to be visited. One of them is Pillnitz Castle, located nearby the river Elbe, built in the 18th century, under the influence of an Asian style fashion with its famous gardens. Another one is the impressive Baroque Hunting lodge Moritzburg Castle, surrounded by stretches of water.
The old City of Meissen and the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory:
Meissen, a small town 20 km off Dresden, offers a picturesque old city with Albrechtsburg Castle, its Gothic Cathedral and, of course, the world-famous porcelain manufactory with its trademark of the “Crossed Blue Swords”.
Saxon Switzerland:
A few kilometres east from Dresden, close to Bad Schandau, reachable by metro within 1 hours, visitors will find the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The landscape is formed by erosion with typical forms of sandstones blocks, valleys, vertical walls and rock towers.

Produces the Phaeton and Bentley, visible to visitors.
